(made ya look)
What a pleasant surprise when I found these tomatoes yesterday. As you can see it’s difficult for them to stay on the vine long enough to get ripe around here because I LOVE fried green tomatoes. Of course you have to tell people that you had to pick a few green ones because the vines were to heavy, you know that it was those of us who like the fried green tomatoes that made up that lame excuse, I mean please, I'd pick a green tomato if it were the only one on the vine.
I do try to limit picking the green ones as true vine ripe tomatoes are pretty tasty too.
I used to fry them with a cornmeal & seasoning batter but a couple of years ago a friend of mine shared his quick & easy “secret” recipe with me & I thought they were great. So now instead of mixing up my own cornmeal batter I use Andy’s Fish Batter (yep that’s right, I would have never thought of that either) but they are delicious!
I’m hoping that by this Saturday I’ll have a few more homegrown tomatoes ready to add to July 4th fare.

The Larkspur on the other hand I planted but it seems to be happy too.
I sat the bird feeder down on the ground so I could go get the bird
I thought about just leaving it there. A little cottage in the woods

I've never had fried green tomatoes but those ones look gorgeous!
Oh! You have got to try them. I grew up looking forward to when tomatoes would start to come in so we could have them.
