Favorite Holiday Recipe

What's your favorite holiday recipe?

This question recently came up and with that in mind, I thought I would share my favorite cookie recipe.  I'm not sure who to actually credit with this recipe but I thank them for sharing it with me and now I'm passing it on to you.  I’m sorry I don’t have pictures to include with the directions (all things considered that might be for the best). Be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Holiday Cookies

Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup or brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Cuervo Gold Tequila

First taste a small sample of the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, just to be sure it is of the highest quality,
pour one Level Cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer.  Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add one peastoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure
the Cuervo is still OK, try another cup...just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the frigging fruit off the floor.

Mix on the turner.
If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaters just pry it loose with a
drewscriver.

Sample the Cuervo once more to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something, who geives a sheet.

Check the Cuervo.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar or somefink, whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make
sure to put the stove in the wishdasher.

Cherry Mistmas  to all!

People in Pink

I recently asked Julie of jmillenLovesToKnit if she would be interested in having her shop featured as the “Spotlight Artist” for the week here on the blog. She graciously accepted. So I asked her if she could send a small blurb about herself & her shop. The article she sent was so touching that I couldn’t bring myself to simply post it in the sidebar for a week & then just replace it with another. So with Julie’s permission, I’m posting the article that she wrote & creating a “People in Pink” link to her shop in the sidebar where you can help her pay it forward by keeping the yarn supply going.
Now I’m turning this over to Julie.

Ok, here goes…

Four years ago I heard the most awful words come out of my physician's mouth.. "it's malignant". The funny shadows they saw on my mammogram wasn't 'nothing' like they suspected. It was breast cancer. The good news? Only Stage I.

Recently divorced and raising 3 teenagers, the months ahead were filled with surgeries, chemo, and radiation.

My first thought was that I wasn't going to turn into one of those people who wear pink and do the fundraising. Oh no. I was going to have my treatment and then forget all about it. This wasn't going to change me.

A funny thing happened on the way to recovery. I started to realize that without all of those people in pink, my diagnosis might not have been made in time. My treatment may have been much more painful. And I may not have realized how selfless my family and friends were when they dropped everything to help me through it.

I remember a basket full of hats that were always present in my oncologist's waiting room. This is one way I can pay it forward, I thought. So for the past 3 years I've been knitting chemo caps and putting them in that basket in the waiting room.

I don't keep track of how much money I spend. But I did realize that if I sold a few hats, I could use that money for more and more yarn. So I decided to put a few for sale on Etsy.

I hope you never have to hear those awful words. But if you do, I've got a hat for you!

GET INVOLVED

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
GET INVOLVED

Volunteer, walk, run, donate
Everything you do makes a difference!

In the last 10 years there was 1 member of my family & 7 friends of mine, 8 people that I know, diagnosed with breast cancer.
When I think about what numbers like that mean in
the BIG PICTURE
it’s really beyond frightening.
According to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure website 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to occur among women in the U.S in 2008. Globally more than 25 million people have been diagnosed and 10 million could die in the next 25 years without the cures.
Early detection is important!
Call your doctor and schedule your annual screening today!
